Rumzing Probleme

Post by ladage » Tue 06 Feb, 2007 4:08 pm

Hilfe !!

Hello,

sounds like a Modulation-Input with internal Pull-Up Resistor.
Disconnect the Modulation Plug and measure the Voltage from the Input.
I think it is more than 5V . Is it a single-ended Input ??

Guido, what do you mean with input voltage ?
I took a lm7805 to get a stable 5 volt to feed the blanking-input with.
Rumzing told me that it is normal that their lasers give only half of the power when blanking is used.
See their reply of my email to them:

Marco,

But, all our lasers is half power when it is being modulated, all our lasers is so, so, even if we repair it, the modulation power is still about half of original power.
even our 200mw is so, when it is being modulated, power is about 100mw.

Best regards,

Hong

Guido, do you know those powersupplies from Rumzing ? In other words, could you repair or modify it to meet the specifications ?

Greetings,
Marco

Hmmz...to say in German...Schade :-(

Ok, so if i understand you correctly, the blanking-input has a pull-up resistor to switch it on when the blanking connector is not connected.
You talked about input voltage, what do you mean exactly ?
The input connector has 4 pins, only three are used.
Blanking +, blanking gnd and a pin that is connected also to ground.
So if i connect the connector to the powersupply two pins are shortened and the laser goes out. If i connect then + 5 volt to the wire i only get around 640 mwatt of output power.

I'm a little afraid to take 6 volt instead of 5 volt.

Greetings,
Marco

I try help you.
I don't know supply from Rumzing but I think that it is also simple- What it can have...? current limiter at Operational Amplifier?

I think that first you must check Voltage at input leg in amplifier (from Vref, not diode current) when DPSS work with full power.
Next, check this voltage when DPSS work with blanking. When it have half from "normaly" voltage then maybe you need only to change gain in previous stage... You can drawing the scheme here?

It is sick, half power...

Maybe ask Hong why thier DPSS must work with half power.? I thing buy something from rumzing, but now... no way
Sorry for my weak English and regards from my simple RGB&GREEN ;)
