LD2000 version 3.10 now available!!!
Hi all,
Just wanted to let you know that the latest update for LD2000 (version 3.10) is available for download from the Pangolin web site. This is a major update with the following additions:
* Latest versions of LD2000, Showtime and Autoplay with new features, enhancements and bug fixes
* The latest version of our Enhanced Reality Preview technology. (I don't think we can get it too much more realistic than this... check it out!!)
* A few new features in the VST2002 real time video tracing system
* Winamp AVS/Laser plugin for real time interactive music visualizations (no updates, but information in the help file on use with Winamp version 3.0)
* Two shows from the award-winning laserist Johannes Coppes (the same shows that were included with 2.50, included for completeness)
* A show specifically designed for Live and Lasershow Performer (again, same as was included with 2.50, included for completeness)
* And last but not least, LivePRO -- a brand new Live controller with amazing features
LivePRO requires a license file from Pangolin to operate. When you start LivePRO, it will guide you through the licensing procedure which is generally pretty simple. The license for LivePRO is available free to LD2000 Pro users, but at an additional charge for Basic and Intro users. Note that a Demo button will start LivePRO in a demo mode even if you do not have a license file.
We have worked very hard on this update and I am sure that all users of LD2000 will enjoy the new features, programs and shows.

Hallo,

Hi guys,
Thanks for the kudos on the Enhanced Reality Preview!! Yes, it is great, and yes you do need a pretty decent computer to use it. Actually, it isn't really the computer speed, but more of the speed of your video board. Video boards that support OpenGL well will work well. I use a GeForce4 here and can do full screen previews at 1280 by 1024 with textured fog. I am sure that there are other great video boards too.
I agree about the "scan speed" thing. LivePRO has a "FPS" readout in the lower left hand corner that will tell you the frames per second. I have not put this into Showtime becuase with multiple scanners, it is hard to represent FPS in one simple number. However, whenever I am doing programming, I find that you can sort of visually estimate the FPS by looking at the time readout in the Playback Controls window. If the time display is really updating like crazy, you know that the projected laser output is not flickering, but if the time readout rate slows down you can sort of figure that things are starting to flicker...
By the way, here are my favorite settings for the Enhanced Reality Preview:
Preview Image Size, X and Y = 200
Preview Image Position, X = 0, Y = 26
Preview Beam Diameter = 1
Preview Virtual Projector Position, X = 0, Y = 67
Fog Density = 71
Fog Speed = -28
Gauze distance = 68
Preview Window Menu: View->Enhanced Reality Preview->Fog Attenuation Model

Juhuuu!
Da muss wohl ´ne neue Grafikkarte her.
Trotzdem Kompliment an Bill!
Grüße,
Tobias

Re: LD2000 version 3.10 now available!!!
Hi Tobias,
Thanks for the complements on the Enhanced Reality Preview. My German is a bit rusty so I am afraid that I don't understand the word "Ruckeln". Maybe my explanation below will answer your questions.
You can enable Enhanced Reality Preview with the View menu in the Preview Window in either LD, Showtime or Autoplay (or even LivePRO). There is also a check box in the Projection Zone setup that will enable and disable Enhanced Reality Preview, and pretty much all of the other controls are here too. Note that each zone can have its own settings for Enhanced Reality Preview, including fog settings (some zones may have different for, or even no fog at all).
Shows that were designed for proper use of Zones will automatically take advantage of this new preview technology. Graphics shows will look like graphics, beam shows will look like beams. Complete explanations of Projection Zone technology can be found in the LD2000 and Showtime help files.

Re: LD2000 version 3.10 now available!!!
Hi Bill,
the word "Ruckeln" means, that I need a new (faster) computer or graphic board. The enhanced reality preview looks very good, but it´s very slow (PIII 750, 512MB RAM, Matrox G450 Millenium Dual Head with 16MB DDR). But it´s important for me to use this dual head graphic board, because I do a lot of graphic work (Flash, Photoshop, Dreamweaver and so on). And for this I need two monitors. The temperature of my cpu climbs higher, higher, higher, ....
But it works.

Hallo Tobias,

Re: LD2000 version 3.10 now available!!!

Re: LD2000 version 3.10 now available!!!
Hi Tobias,
As I think it has been indicated here, the speed of the Enhanced Reality Preview has nothing to do with the operating system, and little to do with the computer, but mostly is related to your video board. If you have a decent video board that gives good performance with OpenGL, then it should work well.
I think that you have discovered that if you have fog density set to 100% it may be faster. This is becuse it is easier for us to simulate a completely dense fog than it is to model the actual fog particles blowing in the wind. This takes more time...
I do hope that everyone is getting along well with version 3.10. If there are problems, please let me know so that we can improve the product and release an update.
Best regards,
William Benner

Hi Bill,
I hope there are few problems with version 3.10 so you have time left to add new cool features!
