dead dream lasers

Post by djwacko » Fri 19 Aug, 2005 7:37 am

hi, i have a 35mW dpss module from "dream lasers" but, not knowing that there was a positive voltage on the housing of the lasermodule, i connected the module to am metal housing an gone was the output. in an attempt to repair the unit, i messured + 2V and 0.5A and if i look into the diode ( i know it is not safe) then i see a small dim red laser light burnig. can some one tell me what to do. is there eneyone who has experience with these units?

Hi, you need a new 808nm laser diode. This unit is not isolated! When the DPSS mounted on a basis plate you have full 5 volts on the housing! Danger! Short with ground! This laser diode is 100% destroyed!
