Post by macgyver » Tue 26 Mar, 2002 6:34 pm

hi there folk's!

Hello Mac,

I recommend you review the "Projection Zones" section of the help file for LD and Showtime. As of LD2000 version 2.00 and Showtime version 1.62, we introduced Projection Zones. This is a bold new concept where each frame can be designed specifically for a particular zone.

For example, if you painstakingly move a beam to a mirror position, you can designate that this frame always be routed to the beam zone (where the mirrors are). You can further designate that you do not want the beam zone to be affected by size, rotation, etc. and that way your beams will always hit the mirrors.

Likewise, you can indicate that you want a frame to always be considered for audience scanning effects rather than graphics effects.

You can also indicate that you want raster frames to go to a "Raster Zone" which is automatically reduced in size.

Projection zones are very powerful and they allow a great amount of flexibility, especially when you want to take a show originally designed for 1 projector, and play it back on multiple projectors, or vice versa.

Projection zones can be assigned in the Advanced Frame Properties section of LD, or in the Track properties of Showtime.

In the Projection Zone setup window, you can indicate how you want the preview window to show frames that are displayed in various zones. For example, it is possible that you want to send the output of the QM2000 to two separate projectors at the sides of the stage, and that you want LD2000 software to show a preview of how the beams will look from both sets of scanners. It is really fantastic. It is possible to show beams, graphics and audience scanning in the same preview window at the same time. Many people find this so powerful, that they use Projection Zones and the preview window setup as a planning tool for placing scanners, before they even get to a show site.

Anyway, there is a lot of power here and it is all fully documented in the help file. I do hope that you and others will take the time to review this valuable information in order to get maximum benefit from the software.

Best regards,
