preview / showtime 2.11

Post by mugel » Thu 29 Nov, 2001 9:18 pm

Hi Leute,

Hello there,
Thomas is correct -- the "view as graphics" or "view as beams" has effectively been moved (or replaced) with Projection Zones.
The big problem with the "view as graphics / view as beams" system in version 1.32, is that EVERYTHING was projected as graphics or beams. What if you had a two-scanner show where one scanner was graphics and the other was beams?
With the new Projection Zones system, it is possible to show both Beams and Graphics simultaneously in the preview window. In fact, now your frames and shows know where to project -- as graphics or beams. So when you load and play a show, you will see it on the preview window just like you do in real life. No more need to switch settings to beams or to graphics.
Projection Zones offers many more features for the preview window. For example, now you can position the virtual beam projector anywhere, or even mirror two projectors at the same time. In fact, with the preview capability of Projection Zones, it is possible to model up to 40 projectors in a room!!
The Projection Zones concept is very new, and it is also a very bold move for Pangolin. Sometimes bold moves come with some resistance. I am hoping that once you review the Projection Zones section of the help file and play around with it a bit, you will actually prefer the new way.
But please do give feedback. The LD2000 product evolves solely and exclusively based on the feedback of clients. Please send any comments directly to lasers@pangolin.com
William Benner
