be careful before sharing your ideas

Post by genesis » Wed 04 Jan, 2012 9:12 am

only a little topic about my laser harp development history.

some guys here know that i've started an ilda laser harp project on this forum in 2005
http://www.laserfreak.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=37151
and on the photonlexicon forum.
i was alone on this project but i've shared lot of help on hobbyist on these two forums and that was my mistake.
some guys have used these inforfations to build their own system as commercial one and even won an ILDA award for it!
so be careful when you are sharing your projects on the net/forum because if you are too slow you can't earn money and you stay unknow even if you are the first who have the idea.

my original harp system is here:
https://www.facebook.com/harpelaser
and here:
http://www.harpelaser.com

happy new year to all

I know i'm late with this answer but...
...did you ever think about using a creative commons license for your great projects?

For example "CC BY-NC-SA 3.0"
http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/3.0/

yes there's CC NC license on the laser harp project but you can't avoid some people to use your ideas/drawings for their commercial systems and saying "hey we are the first who made this system!"

Have you considered licensing your older designs? Some open-hardware creators use ‘non-commercial’ licenses to prevent profiteering.
