Hi

I have a 2 new RGB laser and want to use it for shows in Germany in Clubs and Projections for displays etc

Since this is mainly a German based forum can anyone tell me the laws involved and if i need to get permits to do shows etc

one of my RGB units is class 3B and the other is class 4

thinking about going to do a training course but tbh its all a bit obvious with the safety issues, but can anyone recommend a good one:)

You can imagine, that we in Germany have laws for everything...also for laser-entertainment. In germany a public laser-show has to be announced at the office (dont know the exact expression for "Ordnungsamt") and they can ask you for an examination by our "TÜV"...
The equipment must fulfill the DIN regulations.
If you are able to read and understand german, than look into our forum "Lasersicherheit".

Laser Shows have to be permitted by the Public Affairs Office (PAO) of the community the show shall get installed. PAO will make some (or a lot of) conditions. One can be: Let improve your show by an expert (for laser safety e.g. TUV; a check list in German you find here). Furthermore the starting up of the show must be announced to the "Staatliches Amt für Arbeitsschutz" (National Office of Industrial Safety) or "Berufsgenossenschaft"(Professional Association).
The following rules are valid for a laser show: BGV B2 (in German: Berufsgenossenschaftliche Vorschrift no. B2 available per download) a law-like rule, DIN 56912, IEC 60825 part 1 and the laser show part of that standard (part no 3 or 4, don't know exactly, can be found at iec.ch).

In Germany those training courses are in German. If that's no problem: Such courses are given e. g. by TUV Rhineland, Cologne, or Haus der Technik, Essen. Adresses can be found on my Homepage.

seems to be alot of red tape just for a small laser show!

is my UK safety certificate valid over here in Germany??

... possibly yes. But you have to send a copy to and ask someone of the authorities par example Mr Brose from the BGETF: http://www.bgetf.de/start/index.html
or the department of radiation protection for NRW in Duesseldorf Dr. thomas.brueckert@brd.nrw.de
