Klingt also ganz nach nem netten Ferienprojekt... What Patrick wrote was essentially correct. The LDS format is a compressed, encrypted and secured format. Because of the extremely long encryption word length, it is unlikely that it will be cracked any time soon. What's more, the format is "extensible" which means that it can change with each new release of LD2000 software. Even if one "flavor" is ever cracked, the others remain mystereous and harder to crack as time runs...
Many Pangolin users have been asking for the ability to control the distribution of their shows. The new format allows you to do this. For example, I can send you a frame file that will not display on the laser, but will display on the computer screen. With this file, you can see my library, and see the quality of the frames and shows that I create. If you want to purchase these files, you make a deal with me and I give you authorization. This is a very powerful concept and one which will drive the low cost proliferation of quality shows. Keep an eye on the Pangolin web site because we will be adding a page that discusses the new content providers.
Now, all of that being said, anyone with a LD2000 system can export those frames to ILDA format, and can even export complete shows to ILDA format. However, when doing this you must observe the license agreement which generally requires that the frames THAT PANGOLIN DISTRIBUTES (not the ones you create, but the ones that Pangolin distributes) only be used on another Pangolin system. This is only fair since Pangolin paid good money to have the original producers allow us to distribute this content. In addition, we have already had one of our providers sue someone for breaking this requirement.
To summarize, if your friend has made some frames or a show, and you want to get these in ILDA format, this is no problem. Anyone with an LD2000 system can export to ILDA format. However, if these frames are distributed by Pangolin, your friend would be breaking the license agreement by distributing these frames to a non-Pangolin user. Breaking the license carries a pretty stiff penalty...
Best regards,
William Benner

Why is this not offered with Beyond???
ILDA Export (for own created stuff) would be fair for every Pangolin (QS/Beyond also) laserist, imho.
