I assumed this, but actually there is some redundancy in this approach, since only three parameters are needed to address any color with any brightness in the whole color spectrum. What parameters this are depends on the color model; either the HSV/YCrCb/YUV models with intensity (=greylevel) and color signals, or the RGB model with separate levels for each lolor - what makes a additional intensity signal obsolete.

I don't know how manufacturers usually design their projectors, but I certainly wouldn't use a fourth galvo just for intensity fading. But anyway, if some high end systems actually go this way, then they certaily would not use a economy class DAC do drive it - and this is what we are talking about - a 'reduced to the max'-version of the RIYA that provides only the absolute necessary features at a reasonlable and competitive price.

Sorry, slightly off topic, what Frankfurt event are you talking about? The Musikmesse? I wanted to go there but wasnt expecting any Laser thingies there - or are you talking something else?
