Is it possible to make laser beam width smaller?

Beitrag von Gast » So 30 Apr, 2006 3:25 pm

My laser system now has a beam width about 10mil (0.254mm) at the output end, and I am wondering if there is a way to make beam waist 2/3 smaller, or more. Does anyone of you know how to modify the system?

Thanks in Advance!

Yes, if you know how to properly collimate a laser beam. You will need to manipulate the diode so that the beam being produced is more dense. Be careful though, it can be hard dealing with "in case" diodes, and you are risking damaging or destroying the laser crystal all together. But yes, if you have the tools and know how it is definitely possible.

my lasers: spyder ii blue + green, 95mW green pointer, 15mW blue FDA pointer, 10mW yellow pointer, 2.0uJ IR pointer.
